The Los Angeles Lakers will travel to Motor City to take on the Detroit Pistons tonight. The Lakers will try to make it two in a row as they beat the Toronto Raptors last time out 129-122 in overtime.
It’s been a tough season for the Lakers but they are unbeaten against Eastern Conference foes. This unbeaten record will be a test for the Lakers as tonight starts a three game road trip. They will take on the Pistons, Wizards, and Celtics over the next few days.
Lakers head coach Byron Scott had this to say about the Lakers upcoming road trip according to ESPN.com.
“In the East, it’s three or four really good teams and then everybody else is kind of mediocre,” coach Byron Scott said. “We go back that way (Monday), we’ll see what happens.”
The Pistons enter tonight’s game on a 8 game losing streak. Head coach Stan Van Gundy made some lineup changes but to no avail. They currently rank 28th in points per game, so it will be interesting to see if they find their groove against the Lakers weak defense.
Stan Van Gundy’s team is best known for having multiple bigs. However, they are last in the league in field goal percentage around the rim. Van Gundy spoke to ESPN about the matter.
“I don’t have an answer to that,” Van Gundy said. “Are we gonna go into games and say we don’t want those shots? We don’t want the ball in the paint. I don’t have an answer to that, but we’re really struggling in and around the basket.”
The Lakers should handle business and beat the Pistons tonight. Look for Kobe Bryant to have a big game.
