Kobe Bryant enters the 2014-2015 season in a much different situation than most of his other years. The Lakers are nowhere near a championship caliber team and Bryant has a huge chip on his shoulder. The Lakers were embarrassing last year, winning just 27 games. Sure, Bryant only played in only 6 games last year which may have been the cause of the lackluster year.
With that being said, Kobe Bryant has a lot to prove. Many people feel that the torch has been passed and Bryant is no longer a superstar by skill, more by name. ESPN.com has dobted Bryant’s abilities at his age the last two years. If you haven’t heard about their rankings of Bryant this year, we have you covered click here.
If the Lakers want to have any chance at the playoffs, Kobe has to be the Kobe we all know and love. The Lakers do not have enough firepower for Bryant not to be dominant on the offensive end. They also need him on defense.
Yes, we all hate Mike D’Antoni and his awful basketball philosophies, but the Lakers ranked 29th in points allowed per game. They gave up almost 110 points per game, not a recipe for success.
Kobe Bryant has been known for his defensive efforts. Although he won’t be able to transform the Lakers defense by himself, he will help the cause.
Kobe Bryant is one of the best players to ever play the game and this may be his last two years on the floor. Laker fans have no idea how good or bad the Lakers are going to be this year. What we do know is that Kobe Bryant if healthy will be Kobe. He’ll compete, he’ll trash talk, he’ll make the Mamba face.
