The Los Angeles Kings hit the road for a short two game road trip starting with the Winnipeg Jets this afternoon. After an impressive eight game winning streak the Kings find themselves in the midst of a two game losing streak.

Today marks the third and final meeting between these two teams this season. The series is currently split one to one. Back in October the Kings beat the Jets 4-1 at home, and in January the Jets beat the Kings 5-4 in a shootout.

After the long win streak the Kings looked as if they ran out of gas when they took on their rivals on Friday night. They had a 2-0 lead heading into the final period but were eventually beat 4-2. Center Jeff Carter spoke with CBSsports.com about the game.

“We got away from the things that were winning us games previously,” center Jeff Carter said. “This was a tough one. … At this point of the year when we’re blowing third-period leads, it’s tough to take because of the points we need right now.”

With both teams fighting for playoff position tonight’s game is a huge deal. It will be important for the Kings to contain Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little. Ladd leads the Jets in points with 50, and Little leads the team in goals with 24.
