- Updated: February 18, 2015
The Los Angeles Kings will take their winning streak on the road tonight as they take on the Colorado Avalanche. While the Kings are playing some of their best hockey of the year they will need to focus on the task at hand and win on the road.
They were able to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Monday night. With the recent surge the Kings are just 3 points back of the third playoff spot in the Pacific division.
Tonight will be the first of three matchups between the two teams. Anze Kopitar and Brayden Mcnabb
spoke to ESPN.com about the Kings recent play.
“We’re still in a hole,” said center Anze Kopitar, who scored in Monday’s 3-2 home win over Tampa Bay. “We know where we stand, so we’ve got to keep on going.”
“We’re playing with more desperation as we should’ve before, but it seems like now it’s clicking for us,” Kopitar said. “Every time when you win or you put a streak together like this, the confidence is higher.”
“We’ve been struggling on the road, so (winning two in a row) is big for us,” defenseman Brayden McNabb said.
“We’ve got to keep on playing and keep getting the two points.”
As for the Colorado Avalanche, will be looking for their third consecutive win. ESPN.com reports the following on the team:
“We’re going to have another big one against L.A., but the big ones, they’re all fun at this time of year,” Iginla told the Avalanche’s official website.
Iginla has recorded two goals and five assists during a four-game point streak but has been blanked in his last three against the Kings.”
