This wasn’t exactly how the Los Angeles Kings wanted tonight to go. A win would have been a whole lot better. Instead, the Minnesota Wild dominated from the go and beat the Kings 4-1.
The game kicked off with an early goal from the Wild’s Nino Niederreite, which was assisted by Mikko Koivu and Chris Stewart. The next was Minnesota’s again, this time by assist-ee Mikko Koivu, and assisted by Chris Stewart.
As the first period expires the Kings had yet to score and the Wild were up 2-0. At the 3:20 mark Dwight King put one on the board for his team, with the help of Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli. This goal marked King’s 11.
There were a number of penalties in the second, ranging from two “5 Minute Major for Fighting” going to both teams. The fighting was between the Kings’ Jordan Nolan and the Minnesota Wild’s Chris Stewart. Erik Haula received a two-minute penalty for hooking Justin Williams, and Ryan Suter was dealt the same for slashing Alec Martinez.
The third period marked the addition of two more goals from the Wild, the Kings were out of it and the game ended 4-1.
Up next the Kings will take on the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday evening. Go Kings Go!!
