Los Angeles Kings Lose Lead Late; Flames Win 4-3
- Updated: December 22, 2014
After leading the Calgary Flames 3-0 for most of the game, the Kings lost all control as the Flames ran through and scored four to end the game 4-3.
The Los Angeles Kings scored early in period one. The first goal came from Trevor Lewis after an assist from Drew Doughty and Brayden McNabb. The second goal came again in the first period but this time the puck was put in by Marian Gaborik off of a power play.
The next goal wouldn’t come until the second period for the Los Angeles Kings following some penalties to both teams in the first. 4:32 in and Jamie McBain scored on another power play with assists from Dustin Brown and Justin Williams making the score 3-0.
In the 18th minute the Calgary Flames scored their first goal by Johnny Gaudreau on a power play. They scored twice more in the third period and once in overtime to put the last nail in the Kings coffin. This added two more goals for Johnny Gaudreau and one in overtime for Mark Giordano.
The Los Angeles Kings have continued to struggle whenever they take and hold the lead for the duration of the game.
The Kings next game will be on Saturday against the San Jose Sharks at home in the beloved Staples Center. We can only hope they can close out that game to make up for this loss.
