Los Angeles Kings Fall To Maple Leafs 4-3 In Shootout

The Los Angeles Kings lost a hard fought game against the Maple Leafs 4-3 in a shootout. Tonight marks the second loss in a row for the Kings as they lost to the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night. 

The Kings trailed 2-0 after the first period as Mike Santorelli and Cody Franson each scored goals for the Maple Leafs. It was another story of the Kings just being unable to finish goals. They outshot the Leafs 11-8 in that period.

In the second period the Kings scored two goals of their own. Justin Williams and Dwight King scored goals to tie the game up at 2 apiece in the after the second period.

The Kings would quickly score in the third to give them the 3-2 advantage. Marian Gaborik scored the goal for the defending champs, but James van Riemsdyk scored a powerplay goal that forced overtime.

Neither team was able to score in overtime which forced a shootout. Joffrey Lupul scored the only goal for Toronto in the shootout but it was enough to beat the Kings 4-3.

The Kings have been struggling of late as they have now lost three of their last four games. They will conclude their 5 game road trip in St.Louis when they take on the Blues on Tuesday night.
