With these tendered contracts, the club now has $194.525 million committed to 17 players going into the 2015 season.
The club agreed to a one-year contract with infielder Darwin Barney. With this deal, the club avoided salary arbitration just shy of Tuesday night’s 9 p.m. tender deadline. Barney’s contract is worth $2.525 million, per Dylan Hernandez, a writer for LA Times.
Barney hit .241 in 94 games split between Los Angeles and Cubs throughout the 2014 season. He was acquired on July 28th from the Cubs. Barney was a gold-glove winner in 2012 and was a great attribution to their defense this season.
