Despite their seven game winning streak, the Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t have a smooth time at AT&T Park. They were swept by the San Francisco Giants.
They took the lead early with home runs from Alex Guerrero and Adrian Gonzalez in the second and third innings.
The San Francisco Giants’ Justin Maxwell had a one-out-single which helped to break a 10th-inning deadlock.
MLB.com reports the following on the game:
“With the score tied, 2-2, Angel Pagan launched San Francisco’s winning surge by singling on a full-count pitch from Juan Nicasio, the Dodgers’ sixth reliever. One out later, after Pagan stole second base, Brandon Belt drew an intentional walk before Maxwell whistled his hit past third base.
The Giants pulled even in the ninth on Brandon Crawford‘s run-scoring triple with nobody out, but he was stranded as Dodgers reliever Pedro Baez recovered to retire the next three hitters.”
The Dodgers Howie Kendrick made a diving catch in the eighth inning that preserved their small lead. San Francisco’s bases were loaded with two outs when Maxwell hit a line drive up the middle that Kendrick snared just off the ground.
Mike Bolsinger, who did not allow a run in 11 minor league innings, took a shutout going into the sixth. He finished allowing one run on five hits. He walked two and struck out five.
Up next the Dodgers will take on the San Diego Padres.
