Los Angeles Clippers vs Sacramento Kings Recap 10/28
- Updated: October 29, 2015
New addition Lance Stephenson got the Los Angeles Clippers 2015-16 season underway draining a three that would be the Clippers first points of this long 82 game season. Stephenson finished with seven points on 3 for 5 shooting in his first regular season start for Los Angeles as the Clippers edged out a late comeback from Sacramento in a 111-104 victory against the Kings.
The Clippers would be led on Wednesday night by All-Star power forward Blake Griffin who started off on fire with 20 points by the end of the first half, and a ridiculous opening night stat line of 33 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by the end of the night. Griffin was excellent from the midrange and showed tremendous confidence in his jump-shot all night long. This continued Griffin’s hot play from the end of last season as he was arguably as good as anybody in the playoffs.
Chris Paul finished with his customary double-double adding 18 points and 11 assists as JJ Redick did what he does best shooting 5 for 11 and knocking in 15 points.
The Clippers bench was led by none other than new addition and future Hall of Famer Paul Pierce who would come to the Clippers aid as their lead began to slip late in the game finishing with a total of 12 points and 7 rebounds in 24 minutes of relief play.
Sacramento Kings starting Center DeMarcus Cousins remained in the spotlight after the game stating, “I hate ’em. Honestly I do. I hate ’em” after being asked of his range of emotions playing against Los Angeles. Doc Rivers responded perfectly after hearing the quote with a simple, “I don’t need more rivalries.”
Trust me DeMarcus, none of us Clipper fans care for you much either.
Overall a solid victory from the Los Angeles Clippers on opening night against a very formidable and improving Sacramento Kings team that some expect could contend for a playoff spot. But if Griffin can keep this hot streak up the Clippers will be very tough to beat all season long. Go Clips Go!
