Los Angeles Clippers vs. Memphis Grizzlies Recap 11/09

Finally!

J.J. Redick heats up after a very slow start from the usually quick-starting shooting guard and is able to will the Clippers to the 94-92 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in Los Angeles Monday night.

Redick, who finished the night with 16 points was a very pedestrian 2-6 from three point range Monday night but got the shots to fall when his team needed it and rained in some very critical shots late for the Clippers as he knocked in 6 points in the last minute.

Coming off injury, Chris Paul played a surprisingly high 33 minutes Monday night but did not quite look comfortable enough to play like himself as he underperformed by his gaudy standards putting in just 14 points with 4 rebounds and assists.

In a matchup almost always determined by the grit and grind of big men the play of DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin versus Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol was the focus of the night. Griffin kept in stride as he brought home 24 points and 12 rebounds against a very stout Grizzlies defense. Meanwhile Jordan had 13 points to go with 12 rebounds and a huge 4 blocks which just so happens to be close to the big mans’ average per game at this early point in the season.

Randolph and Gasol did not struggle either however as the former-Clipper Randolph had an amazing performance powering home 26 points to go with 9 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals. Gasol ended the night with 18 points and 7 rebounds in what was, as always, a very physical game for the Grizzlies bigs.

Matt Barnes returned to Staples Center last night for the first time since leaving the club this last summer to put up 8 points and 6 rebounds off the bench for Memphis. The always highly emotional Barnes elbowed Jordan in the face early in the game but it would appear no hard feelings were had as the two were seen talking and paling around at the conclusion of the contest.

Gutsy win for the Los Angeles Clippers against a team that always is tough to play against. The Clippers next opponent will of course be the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night in Dallas, in what should be a very fun and exciting game for DeAndre Jordan. Go Clips Go!
