Los Angeles Clippers vs Chicago Bulls Recap 12/10
- Updated: December 10, 2015
This one was ugly Clipper fans, as the team would lose 83-80 in an offensive struggle. Putting this game in a nutshell, Blake Griffin was ejected and the team shot a resounding 30% from the field in the first half. But let’s back up a bit.
The first quarter for the Clippers was highlighted by rebounding. DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin were able to crash the boards and give Los Angeles the advantage on the glass. The Clippers would lead by as much as 8 in the first but would finish the quarter only up one, 24-23 as the team would let up defensively towards the end.
The defensive let up continued into the second and Chicago took full advantage. The Clippers one time 8 point lead was no longer in sight and the Bulls would grab a double digit lead over Los Angeles on what was one of the worst shooting performances you will ever see at this level of basketball. The Clippers bench was, simply put, awful. The bench shot 2-14 from the field in the first half and the starters did not do much better but they at least provided some energy. All things considered, the Clippers were lucky to only be trailing by nine, 44-35 by the time the first half was all said and done.
Things got interesting for the Clippers in the opening quarter of half number two. Offense was not exactly a premium for either sides in this quarter although Los Angeles would score more than they did in the third, which isn’t really saying much of anything, knocking in 19 total points to the Bulls 20. The story of the quarter though came by way of Blake Griffin being ejected for a hard foul on Taj Gibson. This foul looked much worse in slow mo than it actually was and this likely lead to Griffin’s demise,

Heading into the final quarter of play Los Angeles trailed Chicago 64-54.
The fourth quarter sans-Griffin went about as well as the Clippers could have hoped. They started off the fourth scorching as Josh Smith was raining in important shots and helped bring the team closer with his three ball. However, the Bulls were able to punch back and get some good runs of their own to maintain the lead and hold on for the win as Chris Paul could not hit the game winning shot as time expired.
Blake Griffin ended the night in three quarters of play with 18 points and 11 rebounds. DeAndre Jordan had 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds while Chris Paul rattled in 12 points and a subpar by his standards 5 assists.
A tough loss for Los Angeles against a playoff-bound Bulls team at home. The performance from the Clippers however was inexcusable on the offensive end. It was clear both teams were on the second night of back to back games and this road trip for Los Angeles suffers its first loss. The next game for the Clippers will be in Brooklyn on Saturday as the team will take on the Nets. Let’s hope for some better offense Clipper fans or this will be an ugly end to what started as a great road trip.
