Jones was originally signed to a ten day contract on January 14th after an impressive run in the D-League with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Doc Rivers spoke with Arash Markazi of ESPN.com and mentioned that Jones has been a key component of the Clippers recent chemsitry building.
“We’re going to keep him,” Rivers said. “He’s been great for the young guys, for Austin [Rivers] and C.J. [Wilcox] already. He’s a veteran. He’s happy to be here, and he has a toughness about him as well that I think will be good for us.”
Rivers also said per Markazi.
“You can clearly see that the bench is alive, and that is nice,” Doc Rivers said. “That has not been the case all year, and you can just see the guys enjoying each other as a group, and that is good; playing well helps, too. Even in the Cleveland game, we did not play that great, but I thought our bench was live. It is good that our bench guys are cheering for the starters, and the starters are cheering for the bench guys. It is called growth, and that is great for our team.”
The Clippers will take on the Phoenix Suns tonight and Jones will be available if need be.
