Los Angeles Clippers Player Profile: Blake Griffin
- Updated: October 18, 2014
2013-2014 season statistics: 24.1 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game, 3.9 assists per game, 1.2 steals per game, .528% field goal percentage, .273% three-point percentage
Blake Griffin has been a highlight maker ever since he came into the NBA. It seems like there are multiple plays each week of Griffin doing something so athletic that it just makes everyone have a loss of words. Griffin shoots the midrange shot, dunks (very hard), and rebounds like an animal. A nice player to build your franchise around.
Last year, Griffin was more aggressive on offense as he took the most shots in his career with an average of 17 attempts per game. As a result, Griffin had a career high in points scoring 24 per game taking command of the Clippers offense.
A stat that was a major improvement from Griffin’s previous years was his free throw percentage. Griffin gets to the free throw line at least 4 times a game so making those free shots should become a priority. Griffin went from around a 60% free throw shooter to a 71% shooter last season. A nice improvement that clearly shows up in his upgrade in points per game.
Griffin is only 25 years old so he is yet to really hit his prime level. This could only be good news for the Clippers as their cornerstone piece rises into MVP level.
Another big thing for Griffin is his durability. Griffin missed his first year in the NBA due to injury but has since rebounded into being a very durable player. Griffin has started at least 80 games in three of his four years in the NBA. Very impressive for a big man like Blake Griffin.
What does the 2014-2015 season have in store for Griffin? According to his potential, the arrow only continues to go up. Griffin is expected to have another great season as he continues to work on his overall game.
The only thing for Griffin would be to maybe shoot less jump shots and stay away from the three-point shot. Griffin is most effective when using his body in the paint.
