Although it was Chris Paul‘s birthday, there won’t be a celebration for the Los Angeles Clippers tonight. They lost Game 2, on the road, to the Houston Rockets 115-109.

Chris Paul was ruled out for tonight’s game due to the hamstring injury he earned in Game 7 against the Spurs. Blake Griffin had a big night tonight as he put up 34 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.  Jamal Crawford finished with 19 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.

Houston’s top performers tonight came from the likes of Dwight Howard who had 24 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 4 blocks. James Harden led the team in scoring with 32 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds.

The game started off slow for both sides as the first quarter opened, but things started to kick off for the Houston Rockets as they took control and closed out the quarter in the lead at 35-24.

The Clippers got back into the game in the second quarter where they took control with the likes of DeAndre Jordan‘s defense and Lest Hudson’s 21 footer two point shot. Blake Griffin put the Clips in front after he hit one too, and placed the score at 40-39. They maintained a lead all the way up until halftime where they went in up 65-56.

The third quarter was back to slow pokes and a lot of tit-for-tats. Austin Rivers made a driving layup which placed the Clippers score at ten ahead, 71-61. Matt Barnes assisted J.J. Redick with his layup and DeAndre Jordan went on a little scoring spree to keep LA in the lead. The third quarter ended 85-83.

As for the fourth quarter, Jamal Crawford kicked things off scoring with 11 minutes left and an Austin Rivers foul on James Harden closed the lead to one. Harden seemed to have found himself in the fourth quarter as he brought his team back into the game. It was James Harden’s driving layups that boosted the Rockets ahead and ultimately to the win.

Game 3 will take place on Friday, at home in LA, at 7:30 pm!
