The Angels almost came out on top this afternoon as they took on the Oakland A’s, but they couldn’t quite get there. The game ended 3-2.
With Scott Kazmir pitching the Angels kicked off the first inning batting, and all was quiet for both sides. It wasn’t until the bottom of the third inning with Garrett Richards pitching that the game changed. With Billy Burns singling to left Sam Fuld scored, and put the A’s up 1-0.
At the bottom of the sixth the Athletics scored again. Brett Lawrie singled to left center which helped Stephen Vogt to score and move Ben Zobrist to second. Then Ike Davis stepped up, singled to deep center, and helped Zobrist to score and move Brett Lawrie to second. Oakland up 3-0.
The Angels found themselves in the top of the eighth when Albert Pujols stepped on up. He homered to left center and Johnny Giavotella scored. This put the score at 3-2 and gave Pujols his 21st of the season.
The game continued without any more runs.
Up next the Angels will take on the Houston Astros at 7:05 p.m PST.
