Los Angeles Angels Fall To Kansas City Royals 4-2

The Los Angeles Angels were unable to keep up with the Kansas Royals tonight and loss by a score of 4-2. These two teams met in the playoffs last season with the Royals dominating and the Angels looked to get some revenge.
Hector Santiago got the start for the Halos. He pitched 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 runs while striking out 4. The Royals got on the board first after Eric Hosmer singled to right to bring in Lorenzo Cain. This gave the Royals and early 1-0 lead.
For the Royals Jason Vargas got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs while striking out 3. With the Royals up 1-0 Kole Calhoun hit an RBI double to center field that scored Johnny Giavotella and tied the game at 1 apiece.
In the fifth inning Cain hit a single to center that brought home Alcides Escobar and the Royals retook the lead this time 2-1. In the sixth inning Kendrys Morales hit a solo shot to left center and the Royals lead increased to 3-1.
David Freese answered the call with a solo shot of his own cutting the Royals lead back down to one but that was the closest the Angels would get.
In the ninth inning Fernando Salas struggled with his command and walked in Cain to give the Royals the 4-2 advantage.
Wade Davis came on in the 9th inning for the Royals and struck out the side as the Royals beat the Angels 4-2.
With the loss the Angels fall to 2-2 on the season. They will take on the Royals in-game two of the series at 6:05 p.m.
