The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Dallas Mavericks tonight in the last game of their three game road trip. The Lakers are on a two game winning streak as they beat the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night 98-92. Click here to read the recap.
Kobe Bryant scored 29 points and Nick Young chipped in 16 as the Lakers improved to 2-0 with Swaggy P in the lineup. The Lakers started just 1-9 in their first ten games and Kobe Bryant told ESPN.com that things will continue to get better.
“Look, we had a bad start,” said Bryant, who leads the league with 27.5 points per game. “Are we a 3-9 team? No. We’re a much better team than that. We got off to a really bad start, but we’ll (get better).”
Jordan Hill and Carlos Boozer each recorded double doubles in the two victories and the Lakers will look for them to continue their strong play.
For the Dallas Mavericks, they come into the game on a four game winning streak of their own. On Wednesday night the Mavericks gained an impressive win over the Wizards in Washington.
Monta Ellis scored 34 points and dished out 4 assists in the 105-102 victory. Dirk Nowitzki scored 13 points, but sprained his ankle in the fourth quarter. Just as expected, Dirk returned to the game and hit a huge three with just over a minute left in the game that served to be the difference maker.
Nowitzki told ESPN.com this about the situation:
“It was a close game, so if I can walk, I want to be out there. And it actually felt OK, once it loosened up,” Nowitzki said.
The Lakers are having struggles on the defensive end and the Maverick high powered offense will be a test tonight. The Mavericks are currently leading the league in points per game, scoring almost 109 a night.
