According to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com the Los Angeles Angels have signed Ryan Mattheus to a minor league contract.

Mattheus is a right-handed relief pitcher that was part of the Washington Nationals organization. He was part of the bullpen that helped the nationals win the NL East back in 2012. That year he made 66 appearances posting a 2.85 ERA.

Unfortunately for Mattheus that was the last time he was successful as 2013 was not his best year. In 2013 he made just 37 appearance and had a 6. 37 ERA. This was due to the fact that he broke his pitching hand after punching a locker after a bad performance.

Mattheus was hurt again in 2014 with a rib injury. He spent most of last season in Triple-A before the Nationals released him this offseason.

Mattheus is a California native and will try to make his way back into the bullpen at the major league level with this opportunity with the Angels.
