Lets Talk: Los Angeles Clippers Rebrand
- Updated: June 19, 2015
Wednesday night, Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer set forth his first official rebrand of the Clippers organization. Beginning with new logos, Ballmer stated his reasons for the rebrand, “Let’s face facts. You look back at the history of the Clippers. It’s not a happy history,” said Ballmer.
This is the first major change Ballmer has made as Clippers owner since purchasing the team last summer for $2 billion. While maintaining the team’s typical colors of red, white and blue, the Clippers have now added black as a team color and the new color can be seen especially on the teams new black alternate jersey.
While it is understood that Ballmer would want to make a change to an organization and image that just last summer was under so much scrutiny under former owner Donald Sterling, was this a necessary change? Or a new owner wanting to get his $2 billion worth?
