Lakers Win! Kobe Shines In The Finale, 101-96
- Updated: April 14, 2016
One final time, a game that will stand as one of the most dramatic and complete way to end one spectacular career. As the Los Angeles Lakers completed their season, both Kobe Bryant and the team will end with a win. The Los Angeles Lakers came back from a late fourth quarter deficit, to beat the Utah Jazz, 101-96, as the great Kobe Bryant ended his twenty-year run as the face of the Lakers franchise.
Bryant made a true statement, by setting the league and the Jazz on fire last night, with a 60-point performance. The numbers are simply amazing and stunning, 42 minutes, 22 of 50 from the field, 6 of 21 from the arc, 10 of 12 from the line with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. The only other Laker player that was in double figures was Jordan Clarkson, with 12 points. After the game, Bryant made some comments and just dropped the microphone, in the center of the court and walked away, the only way to call his career.
For the Lakers, (17-65), this was rock bottom, the worst season in the franchise history but better days are ahead for them. The team has a chance to grab the top pick in the upcoming Draft Lottery.
Better days are coming for all Lakers fans!
INSIDE THE NUMBERS FOR THE LAKERS:
Since this was the final game of his career, Kobe Bryant will remain the third leading scorer in NBA history with 33,643 points, trailing former Laker Karl Malone, with 36,374, (-2,731) and our own Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the all-time leading scorer with 38,387 (-4,744).
THE FINAL WORD ON THE LAKERS:
This is why we all love sports, something amazing always happens. We, as Lakers fans, didn’t have much to cheer about for the past several seasons but this franchise and the fans are the best. This is going to be very hard for all Lakers fan all across the globe, we have seen the last of the true superstars of the game. Kobe Bryant is truly “Basketball Royalty” and we were blessed to have had him in our royal colors for twenty complete seasons. Many will debate where he will rank among the greatest players of all-times and this will continue to be the biggest debate in sports history. Now, after what we witnessed last night, I’m ranking him the second greatest player all-time, just behind another Lakers great, Wilt Chamberlain. How many players have scored 81 points? How many players over the age of 37 scored over 50 points? No one but Kobe!
We all salute you and thank you for your time and the greatest moments you have shared with us. Players come and go but none of them will have the championship caliber, killer mentality or the ability to score at will. Kobe played even when the injuries told him that he shouldn’t. We all will remember the good times as well as the bad, and for the final time, you said, “Mamba Out.”
