Lakers Use Second Half To Beat Pistons 93-85

The Los Angeles Lakers used the second half to beat the Detroit Pistons 93-85. The Lakers were in the middle of a five game losing streak with their most recent loss coming against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night.

Seven different Lakers scored in double figures in the win. Ed Davis had a strong game as he had 13 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. Wesley Johnson had 13 points and 3 rebounds and Jordan Hill  chipped in 16 points and 3 boards as well.

Tarik Black scored 10 points and 8 rebounds, while Wayne Ellington scored 11 points. Jeremy Lin had a very solid all a round game. The former Harvard product scored 12 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and had 5 assists.

Rookie Jordan Clarkson rounded out the double digit scorers as he had 10 points and 8 assists.

For the Pistons Greg Monroe was too much for the Lakers to handle. He scored 24 points to go along with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Andre Drummond controlled the glass. He continued he strong season on the boards as he had 14 points and 21 rebounds. Reggie Jackson struggles continued from the field. He shot just 1/9 and had 2 points.

Jodie Meeks made his return trip to Staples Center. He scored 12 points off the bench.

While neither team shot the ball particular well from the field, the Lakers had the advantage in points from the charity stripe.  The Lakers connected on 26/30 attempts while the Pistons shot just 13/19.

The Lakers were eliminated from playoff contention earlier in the night after the Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Brooklyn Nets. This is the earliest that the Lakers have been eliminated from playoff contention in franchise history.

Up next the Lakers will take on New York Knicks on Thursday night at the Staples Center.
