Pau Gasol returned to Los Angeles to face his former team, and once again the result goes in the favor of Gasol and the Chicago Bulls, as they beat the Lakers, 114-91.
The Lakers woes continued, as the team has now lost eight straight games. This game wasn’t very close, as the Bulls jumped out to a commanding first-quarter lead and never looked back.
Jimmy Butler and Gasol led the Bulls with 26 and 21 points respectively, while Los Angeles were led by Jordan Clarkson with 16, Julius Randle and Nick Young both added 14 points to pace the Lakers in scoring. Randle had a very scary moment, when he took a very hard foul, in which his head bounced off the floor. Randle sat on the floor for a few minutes, regained his composure and was able to finished the game.
Los Angeles will play the Bulls in Chicago later this season, but the main conversation about this game was the comments made by Kobe Bryant before the game. Bryant quoted that, “Gasol was one of the most under-appreciated players to have played for this franchise.” After the game in his post-game interview, Gasol was asked about the state of the Lakers as a franchise, it was very noticeable that he still has a very deep love for the Lakers and the fans of Los Angeles.
