Lakers Players Spotlight: Lou Williams

Lou Williams

As the NBA season approaches, we would like to take a look at all the Lakers and Clippers players, today’s the focus is on Lou Williams.

Williams, who is entering his eleventh season in the NBA, Los Angeles is his fourth team, which included stops in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Toronto. The former two-time “Mr. Basketball,” in the state of Georgia and second leading scorer in the state’s history, will wear the number “23” for the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

The reigning 2015 NBA Sixth Man Of The Year Award winner, also was the runner-up for the award for his great play in the 2011-12 season. That season he averaged 14.9 points per game for the Philadelphia 76ers, without a single start for the club that season.

Lou Williams has enormous skills and is a proven winner in this league, which is just what the Los Angeles Lakers need to have a successful season. His veteran leadership and ability to help out the rookie guards like Anthony Brown and D’Angelo Russell, should be efficient enough to help develop both players into good, solid NBA players. He also brings depth to the Lakers roster, when both Kobe and Nick Young are off the court.

Williams is a great addition for the Lakers, Head Coach Byron Scott has a solid bench player and another explosive scorer when needed. Here are some of the things that he brings to the Lakers. Back in the 2009-10 season, in a five point loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, Williams topped the 30 point plateau for the first time in his career, with 31. His best game came last season while playing the Toronto Raptors, setting a career high for free throws in a game, with a perfect 15 for 15 from the line, adding 36 points, for a new career high in points, as the Raptors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers by 17 points.

The season is greatly approaching and the Lakers are very fortunate to have a proven player like Lou Williams, who is a very mild-mannered person as well. I had the opportunity to speak with Lou briefly, he was very respectful and engaging and had time for a few words. He will bring respect, unity and a solid work ethic to this team, as they will try to get back the level that the Purple and Gold is used to.
