Lakers Name Frank Vogel As Head Coach

The most disappointing and frustrating saga in the franchise history of the Los Angeles Lakers may have come to an end on Saturday as the team announced the hiring of former Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel and added Jason Kidd as an assistant coach.

Vogel and the Lakers agreed to a three-year contract. He takes over for Luke Walton who left the team last month to take the coaching job in Sacramento.

The search finally comes to an end after the team failed on several candidates including Jason Kidd, Ty Lue, and Monte Williams. With no President Of Basketball Operations after the abrupt departure of Magic Johnson, the team has been advised by Kurt Rambis and his wife.

On Friday afternoon, several Laker fans (about 60 to 100 people) displayed their displeasure for the team by holding a protest outside of the Staples Center.

WHAT NOW FOR THE LAKERS? The answers are still not clear at this time on who will run the day to day operations of the team. Hopefully, with the addition of Vogel and Kidd, they can bring some stability back to this team that has been known for winning championships instead of dysfunction and chaos.

The new coaching staff and the front office will have to adjust a roster that was simply atrocious with players that were at the end of their roads like Rondo, McGee, Chandler, and Beasley.

The team has to do everything they can to land one of the top free agents this summer to help Lebron James and the younger players to return to the playoff for the first time in six years.
