Lakers Lose In Utah, 96-89

The Los Angeles Lakers played their first game of the season on the road, but the result was a loss in Utah, 96-89.

The big story wasn’t the play on the court, but the health of rookie Brandon Ingram. Ingram left the game in the first half after tweaking his right knee. As a precautionary measure, the team decided to keep him out for the rest of the game.

The team played well, the defense has improved but the Jazz just outlasted Los Angeles in the end. Utah acquired George Hill in the offseason from the Indiana Pacers, led all scorers with 23 points. Nick Young lead the Lakeshow with a team-high 13 points, while Luol Deng added a double-double with 12 and 12.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS FOR THE LAKERS:

The Lakers looked very good in the second game of the season. The numbers were impressive from the foul line, as the team shot 76.2%. The Jazz edged out the Lakers on the boards, 59-54 despite the off night from Julius Randle who only grabbed four rebounds and Timofey Mozgov who had six.

NEXT UP FOR THE LAKERS:

Los Angeles (1-1) will travel to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder on Sunday night. The Thunder come into the game with wins in each of their first two games.
