Lakers Lose Big vs Westbrook and Thunder

Lakers

Russell Westbrook put on an offensive clinic Friday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena when the Lakers took on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Russ notched his 28th triple-double of the season in a 17/18/17 evening.

D’Angelo Russell answered with 29 pts of his own, but needed a less than desirable 26 FGA to do it. Randle dropped 13 points and grabbed 11 boards for a double-double. Ingram, Zubac and Clarkson each finished in double figures.

Although rare, Westbrook got all sorts of support Friday night, including 19 from both Andre Roberson and Abrines, in addition to 15 from Adams and 12 from Gibson.

The game was never in question, with LA facing an uphill battle from wire to wire. Lakers fans were left waiting for a comeback that never came.

OKC shot 45% from the floor to LA’s 40% mark. Los Angeles was out-rebounded by five at 66-61. The difference, though, was OKC’s success and LA’s misery from beyond the arc. The Thunder managed a 42% mark, while LA shot just 22%. Additionally, Los Angeles finished at an abysmal 43% from the charity stripe while Oklahoma City made 70% from the line.

It’s also worth noting that OKC coughed it up four more times than the Lakers, but the Thunder were able to turn LA’s giveaways into 28 points whereas the Lakers came away with just 13 points off OKC turnovers.

Final score: Thunder 110, Lakers 93.
