Lakers: Just Say No To DeMarcus Cousins!!!!

Today is one of the biggest days in the Los Angeles Lakers franchise, with the NBA Draft just a few hours away. Over the past several days rumors have been swirling around the Lakers, including reports that a deal is in place for Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins to come to LA. From my understanding, the deal will send Los Angeles Lakers’ second pick in the draft, Julius Randle, as well as point guard Jordan Clarkson to the Kings in exchange for Cousins and the expiring contract of Carl Landry. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! No way, no how this deal gets done. First of all, the Lakers cannot afford to risk the teams future on a guy that is good but still unsure of himself, which is what they would be doing with Cousins.

Secondly, what role will Landry play on this team? The answer is none. The return of Randle should give this team an added kick at the power forward position. Why would we give up this opportunity by trading him away?

Third, even though Kings Vice President Vlade Divac is a former Laker and has made it clear that Cousins is “untradeable,” (as reported by Ken Berger of CBS Sports) The Lakers have the best position in this draft. General Manager Mitch Kupchak has made all the right moves for this franchise and he will also have to consider the upcoming free agents like Jimmy Butler from Chicago, LaMarcus Aldridge from Portland, and Kevin Love from Cleveland.

The Lakers are on the road back to NBA supremacy and for all Lakers fans this has been the most trying and difficult times but the process will be better with the second pick of either Jahlil Okafor or D’Angelo Russell.

Sorry Sacramento, but the Lakers will be better with the second pick in this draft, instead of Cousins and Landry.
