Lakers Host Minnesota Timberwolves On Opening Night

The Los Angeles Lakers look to put their troubles from last season behind when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.

Before we get into the preview I want to pay respects to Flip Saunders and the Minnesota Timberwolves family. As a young professional I can hope to have a long and influential career as he did. He will be sorely missed and it’s never good to hear of a death in the NBA family.

The Timberwolves have a bright future. Anytime you get the number one pick it’s a great set in the right direction for your franchise. Karl Anthony-Towns is an impressive big man who will have the benefit of learning under future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett this season.

I personally love Andrew Wiggins and think he will be a star in the league for years to come. You can’t forget about the freak athlete in Zach Lavine, and the true point guard in Ricky Rubio. The Timberwolves have a very bright future.

For the Lakers it will be return of Kobe Bryant. We all know the energy and effort he as put in to make this return. Julius Randle will also be in the lineup. He season was cut prematurely due to injury as well.

D’Angelo Russell will make his NBA debut for the Lakers. There are high expectations for the guard after being selected number 2 overall in this year’s draft.

Lou Williams, Brandon Bass, and Roy Hibbert will all make their Laker debuts tonight. There aren’t too high of expectations for this team, but Byron Scott must make sure this team improves from last year.
