In a very emotional night, after Kobe Bryant announced his future plans, the Indiana Pacers beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 107-103.
Kobe Bryant made it official last night, when he announced before the game, that this season would be his last. His night was something that the crowd needed but the end result still remains the same, another Lakers loss. Bryant hit a remarkable 3-pointer with 12 seconds to go in the game, to pull the team to within a point at 104-103. Despite the 4 for 20 from floor, Bryant ended the night with 13 points. The energy and the shot was what Bryant is known for, big shot in big moments.
The Indiana Pacers were coming into this game on a four game winning streak, with very impressive wins over Washington and Chicago. The team also took the court with their “Hickory” uniforms from the movie Hoosiers, for that vintage look. Paul George was hard to stop in this contest, scoring a game high 39 points on 10 for 21 from the field and he was deadly from the 3-point line, going 5 for 10.
The Lakers had a pair of players who led the team in scoring in last night’s game. Jordan Clarkson and Nick Young both scored 22 points in the in game and Young had a good game from deep, sinking six shots from 3-point range. Clarkson was very aggressive on the boards, grabbing a season high with 10. Julius Randle continued his brilliance, proving his dominance at both ends of the court, as he scored 11 points and he led all players in rebounds with 12.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS FOR THE LAKERS:
As mentioned earlier, the Lakers out rebounded the Pacers 54-50. The Lakers simply manhandled the Pacers on the offensive end in rebounding 15-9. Roy Hibbert led the charge grabbing three, to lead the team. One other number that stood out were the personal fouls. The Lakers committed 27 fouls to the Pacers 18, which also led to the reason why the Pacers shot more free throws, going 81.1% from the stripe.
NEXT UP FOR THE LAKERS:
The team will hit the road for an eight-game trip, which starts in Philadelphia on Tuesday night and ends in Houston against Rockets.
The trip will start Philly, were it should be a very emotional and a found farewell to Kobe, from the fans that still considers him as their favorite son, yours truly will be in the building, to honor him as well.
The Lakers (2-14), have now lost a season high six games. They should be excited about starting this road trip, with great hope, as they will face the Sixers who are 0-18. The team is still in the basement of the NBA’s Pacific Division, 15 games behind the Golden State Warriors.
