Lakers Cruise Past Pelicans 126-99

@LakersNation

D’Angelo Russell dropped 22, Jordan Clarkson and  Louis Williams each eclipsed 20 off the bench, and the Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 126-99 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.

Despite another huge night from Anthony Davis (34 pts, 8 rebounds), the Pelicans lost their ninth contest in ten tries. Davis left the game with a back injury.

Down by as many as 17, the Lakers used a strong second half to pull away with ease, a half in which they outscored New Orleans, 71-43.

Nick Young has continued to play well as he poured in 15 points on 5/7 shooting from behind the arc. Young has thrived so far this season under Luke Walton and the Lakers run and run system.

At 6-4, the Lakers do, hypothetically, hold a playoff spot, but regardless, it’s been nice to watch some competitive basketball for the opening weeks of the season, even if it is supplying us with false hope.

Within the next month or so, we should know whether or not the outlook of the 2016-2017 season has completed changed.

Los Angeles will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight a 4:00 p.m. PST. Tonight’s game against the T’Wolves should be a great one.
