Game one of the Western Conference Finals went to the Los Angeles Lakers over the Denver Nuggets, 126-114. This was a very highly-emotional game that showed that this series will be tooth and nail to the end.
Two unlikely stars emerged into the spotlight in game one. Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard. While Anthony Davis led all scorers with 37 points, Howard played his best game in a Lakers uniform. Howard added 14 points but gave the team all of his hustle, effort, and the spark the Lakers needed for the win. Rondo made several great passes with 9 assists, setting up LeBron and the crew for some easy baskets. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made the most of his 30 minutes, scoring 18 while shooting 6 of 10 from the floor.
Both Denver’s star players Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic both scored 21 points for the Nuggets. This was the first time in the playoffs that the Lakers won the first game in these playoffs, after losing both to Portland and Houston.
The Lakers will try to extend their lead by two games when they play Denver tomorrow night,
