LA Rams Fly High in Philadelphia
- Updated: September 24, 2020
After an exciting Week 1 finish in Los Angeles, the LA Rams were on the road in Philadelphia for Week 2. The Eagles, throughout recent history have given the Rams a number of problems. Another potential issue is this game happen to be the first road game for the Rams. Obviously some other teams around the league did not look as sharp last week due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19. However, Los Angeles did not miss a beat, and they picked up where they left off.
The Rams jumped out to a 14-3 lead after the first quarter. Quarterback Jared Goff consecutively completed his first 13 passes going 13/13. The second quarter was the only black mark on the day, as the Eagles managed to bring the score to a one possession game at the end of the half. In the third quarter, the game did not see a touchdown from either side as the only score came from a Rams field goal. Later on in the fourth quarter, the Rams would go on to put the game on ice by scoring 13 points. As a result, the Rams would leave Philadelphia with a 37-19 victory.
Collectively, a great team win for the Rams. As noted earlier, the offense performed well under the leadership of Jared Goff. Tight End Tyler Higbee broke out in a huge way with receiving three touchdowns in the game. As for the running game, Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown both rushed for a touchdown. Defensively, the Rams picked off Carson Wentz twice. This should be a major confidence boost for everyone involved due to the fact the Eagles won the NFC East last season.
With the Rams win, they improve to 2-0 for the third consecutive season. They are one of three teams in their own division to start 2-0. The NFC West is currently combined for an overall record of 7-1. Once again this season, the Rams appear to be playing in the toughest division in football. Los Angeles is going to need to win at least 11 games in order to have a shot at the division. If the Rams can get past another road game for Week 3, they have a favorable schedule going forward.
Up next for the Rams, they will stay out on the East Coast and face the Buffalo Bills in Week 3. Currently the Bills are also 2-0 with wins over the Jets and Dolphins. Obviously those teams are not on the same level as the Rams so Los Angeles will be a nice challenge. If the Rams can knock off the Bills, they will improve to 3-0. This would mark back to back seasons where the Rams start off 3-0. As for right now Rams fans can enjoy the 2-0 record, and a tie for first place. There is plenty of reasons for excitement this season for the city of Los Angeles.
