The LA Kings couldn’t hang with the Chicago Blackhawks and fell 4-1 tonight. As the season winds down each game has playoff implications and the Kings didn’t do themselves any favors in the loss. Tonight’s loss makes it two in a row as the Kings fell to the Minnesota Wild 4-1 on Saturday.

Bryan Bickell put the Hawks on the board first. He scored a tip-in shot that was assisted by Brandon Saad and Andrew Shaw. Jake Muzzin answered the call in the final minute of the first period when he scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Trevor Lewis and Nick Shore. Muzzin’s goal was his 9th of the year.

In the first minute of the second period Duncan Keith scored a slap shot goal that was assisted by Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews. Just over a minute later Niklas Hjalmarsson scored a wrist shot goal. This gave the Hawks a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.

In the final period Hossa put the icing on the cake for the Hawks when he scored a wrist shot goal. With the win the Hawks take the season series 2-1 over the Kings.

Andrej Sekera did not play in the third period for the Kings and looks to have suffered some type of injury. Jonathan Quick had a busy night in net. He made 35 saves but allowed 4 goals.

On the other hand Scott Darling made 31 saves for the Hawks. The LA Kings will now travel home to take on the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.
