After a rough start to the Stanley Cup defending 2014-15 season (*cough* Voynov *cough*) the year of 2015 started out looking more promising after the first game of the new year when the LA Kings came back and defeated the revitalized Vancouver Canucks 3-2. Trailing for most of the game, “Mr. Game 7” Justin Williams tied the game up with 2 minutes left to go and Jarret Stoll scored the game winning goal shortly after that to gain the victory and 2 much needed points! Then everything fell apart right after that when the Kings lost a BIZARRE game to the Nashville Predators 7-6, (this Nashville game was a perfect sign that “Murphy’s Law” was going to apply to this strange (yet very old school) LA Kings’ season), and then dropped the next two games to the New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets. For every positive the team seemed to make that season, a negative (or six) would replace it immediately. New calendar year or not, the vibe continued to be off with this team.
