Gargan (33) is a 10 year MLS veteran and experienced an MLS Cup victory with the club in the 2014 season. Gargan also was quite a personality in the locker room for the Galaxy as he and forward Alan Gordon hosted their series of videos called the “Gargs & Gordo Show”. Gargan has played in 54 games for the Galaxy since signing in 2014 but overall has been quite the journeyman in the league, having played for four other MLS teams before coming to Los Angeles.
Maganto (24) was selected by the Galaxy in the 2015 MLS Superdraft with the 21st overall pick. Hailing from Madrid, Spain, Maganto attended college at Iona College in New York. Maganto’s impact in his first season was felt mostly at the USL level, playing for the Galaxy II for most of the season. However, Maganto did manage to get 13 appearances for the MLS squad and tallied one goal and two assists in his showings.
The Galaxy cut the pair in an effort to trim their roster down to the necessary 28-player limit the MLS puts on each club. One more transaction seems very likely before the team plays their MLS season opener this Sunday, March 6th against D.C. United.
