After an incredibly exciting 5-1 win last week, the LA Galaxy are back in action tonight as they take on the Portland Timbers. This will mark the second meeting between the two teams, and will serve as an important match in the Western Conference, as both are in a deadlock at 3rd place.
Although the Galaxy are coming off of a win agaisnt the Philadelphia Union, the Timbers are also coming off of a win against the Houston Dynamo. In their battle for advancement, the Timbers have the upper hand as they have two games on the Galaxy.
Galaxy have scored 11 goals in their last two “competitive matches.”
MLS.com writes the following about Portland:
- The Timbers have won four league games in a row for the first time in their MLS history, following their 2-0 win against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday evening at Providence Park. It was their second consecutive defensive shutout, and third in the four-game winning run.
- The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Alan Gordon hit for the equalizer in second-half stoppage time, answering Fanendo Adi’s second goal of the game right on the stroke of full time, leaving the teams in a 2-2 draw March 15 at Providence Park
The good news is that the Galaxy have never lost to Portland when they play at home! Let’s go Galaxy, give us another win!!
