The Los Angeles Galaxy will get the extreme honor of kicking off the MLS’s 20th season tonight. They will be hosting the Chicago Fire and will have a fairly optimistic outlook on the season following their successes of last.

Keep in mind LA Galaxy fans, the game will be televised on Spanish-language channel UniMas but it is possible to watch the English-language version through the use of the SAP button. To find out how, click here.

The team most recently closed out the preseason with a loss to the San Jose Earthquakes which put their record at 5-2-0. They will be feeling confident, however, as they will look to carry on their 16 game undefeated home streak, tonight. Captain Robbie Keane spoke to the media and said the following:

“I don’t think that we’re quite there yet to be honest with you. Some players have played 90 minutes which has certainly helped for next week, but I don’t think that we’re there yet,” said Keane. “This is what preseason is for though because the results don’t matter. … You want to put things into practice for the upcoming season, but conceding goals especially on set pieces shouldn’t happen.”

The LA Galaxy will also have to play this season without retired Landon Donavon, and the promise of a Stevie G coming midseason is definitely something to look forward to.

As for the Chicago Fire, they are setting out to make the playoffs for the first time in three years. They broke records last season, but maybe not for the best reasons. They recorded a MLS record of 18 draws which put them in ninth with only 36 points to end the 2014 season.

The Chicago Fire continued their draw-ing ways in the preseason as they racked up 3 in 3 matches. Their record sits at 1-0-4. The team spoke to the media and said the following, as reported by MLS.com.

“I think there have been multiple back lines and everyone who’s played has been part of the clean sheets,” defender Jeff Larentowicz said. “I think at this point the coaches are looking for the best combination … Some guys played longer minutes so I think we’re moving toward a back four, but again everybody is kind of in the mix there.”

The game will be officiated by Jair Marrufo. AR1 (bench): Frank Anderson; AR2 (opposite): Corey Rockwell; 4th: Alejandro Mariscal.
