LA Galaxy Sign Romain Alessandrini

Galaxy

The Los Angeles Galaxy announced Tuesday that they have acquired Romain Alessandrini and will make him one of the team’s three Designated Players.

Alessandrini, a French international, signs with Los Angeles from Olympique de Marseille. The 27-year-old has played the majority of his career in his home country.

“We are very excited to add a talented, attacking winger like Romain to our roster,” LA Galaxy General Manager Peter Vagenas said in a post on LAGalaxy.com.“He is in the prime of his career and has spent time playing at a top division in Europe. Romain will play a valuable role in our team’s success this season and we look forward to him joining the team ahead of the 2017 season.”

While playing in Ligue 1, the Frenchman scored 31 goals and added on 21 assists. 11 of the goals and 9 of the assists came with his hometown club of Marsaille.

Los Angeles needs the firepower in the attacking third this season with the loss of Alan Gordon (Colorado Rapids) and Robbie Keane (out of contract).

Alessandrini has not played for the French national team yet but has earned a call-up in 2013.

The signing of Alessandrini finally puts the Galaxy on the right track to get back to its dominant times after a stagnant offseason.
