LA Galaxy Add Two Forwards
- Updated: January 14, 2016
A day that started with the hope of the LA Galaxy selecting a promising, young player in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft shifted quickly,

Manager Bruce Arena subsequently left the draft in Baltimore as this was the only pick the Galaxy had for the day. Apparently, Arena had better things to do,

Forward Mike Magee returns to Los Angeles, where he played from 2009 to 2013. Magee’s return to the Galaxy has been rumored for some time now and the fan-favorite will finally be back in StubHub Center next season after spending a couple of seasons with the Chicago Fire. Magee projects to fill in perfectly as a back up forward along with recently re-signed Alan Gordon.
Arena apparently doesn’t think the team has enough striking power however as he went out and added one more, just for good measure.
BREAKING NEWS: The #LAGalaxy have signed forward Emmanuel Boateng (@Emaboateng) https://t.co/G4OXIpDi18pic.twitter.com/FIA3imXuMb

This one came as a bit of a shock. Another forward added onto the Galaxy roster certainly seems to put a logjam of talent at the forward position. But Arena seems to have a plan, as he always does,
“Emmanuel is a talented, young, attacking player who will add valuable depth to our offense,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena. “He will continue to develop as a player and we are excited to add him to our roster.”
Boateng (21), a former High School Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year in Southern California, is a Ghana national that attended UC Santa Barbara before playing in the PDL. After a summer of play in the PDL, Boateng signed his first professional contract to play for Helsingborgs IF of Allsvenskan which is a club in Sweden’s top division. Since his singing with Helsingborgs IF in 2013, he has made 37 appearances and scored 4 goals.
These moves signal plenty more coming for Los Angeles and it should be very interesting to see what the club does from here on out. The Galaxy do have three picks remaining in the final two rounds of the SuperDraft which will be concluded tomorrow.
