- Updated: November 12, 2014
Kobe Bryant made history tonight versus the Memphis Grizzlies. The Laker Legend set the NBA record for most missed field goals in a career.
The Lakers were in Memphis to take on the Grizzlies, and with about six minutes left in the fourth quarter Bryant hoisted up another one, and missed. What seems like nothing out of the ordinary for him was a significant miss in NBA history. This miss was Bryant’s 13,148th one which is more than the previous record holder John Havlicek.
Kobe Bryant told reporters after the game,
“I was just being aggressive,” Bryant told reporters after the game. “I played with a lot of energy today. It’s easy to look at it and say 37 shots, but you don’t see how hard I was working to get easy opportunities, offensive rebounds and transition shots.
“Some of the easy ones I missed, but if you play with a lot of energy and are relentless, you’ll get a lot of opportunities.”
With the miss, Bryant is is now ahead of likes of Havlicek, Elvin Hayes, Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Michael Jordan in the most missed statistic.
