Kobe Bryant Reveals Michael Jordan’s Advice For Him

By now you know that Kobe Bryant has surpassed Michael Jordan on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. What you might not know is the advice Michael Jordan gave to him regarding this accomplishment and it’s looking like Kobe might be motivated to go for second place.

According the Chicago Sun Times’ Seth Guren,

“It was more of a thankful feeling to Michael and the players who came before because I’ve learned so much from them. And I don’t say that lightly. I’ve literally just stole [expletive] from them, like spin moves and pull-ups. It’s not me passing these players. It’s us. I’ve literally taken things from their games and made them my own.”

This could be a big feat for the Black Mamba considering his state of health and the number that stands between the two rankings. As of today, Kobe Bryant is 4,563 points behind Karl Malone. In the 2005-6 season he defied all odds and scored 2,832, and he has scored 2,000 points a season for eight years straight. Only three of those type of seasons have happened since the star turn 30, and with a contract ending in 2015-16, and “old” age setting in, it seems to be a stretch.

According to Kevin Ding, there is a possibility that Kobe Bryant will be out for a full week before he plays again.

Kobe needs to play in 182 regular season games, while maintaining his average points of 25.4, in order to surpass Karl. This would require Bryant signing another contract to hold him over until 2016-17 and this would be a huge surprise for all involved.

“All indications are, to me, from him, that this (two-year contract) is going to be it,” Mitch Kupchak said earlier this month, according to NBA.com’s David Aldridge.

If he wants to jump to the number two spot, maybe he should keep playing until he’s 40?
