Kobe Bryant Ranked 40th Best NBA Player by ESPN
- Updated: October 16, 2014
Kobe Bryant has been so good for so long that hearing Bryant’s ranking by ESPN of being ranked the 40th best player in the NBA today seems like there was a mistake somewhere by the ESPN analysts. Bryant will go down as one of the top NBA players of all time but, unfortunately, age has been creeping up on him.
Being 36 years old, Bryant is way past his prime…we would think. Bryant’s 2013-2014 season ended after only 6 games due to an Achilles tear but, in the year before, Bryant was still averaging 27 points per game which is above his career average.
So why should we just assume Bryant will drop off significantly in terms of production? Bryant has gone against the odds many times in his career before so it really should not come as a surprise if Bryant does the same thing again this time around.

Still, being ranked 40th in the ESPN rankings may sound horrible for Bryant but he is still being ranked right alongside players in the likes of Dwayne Wade (36), Rajon Rondo (37), Klay Thompson (38), and Andre Iguodala (39). Those are not too bad of NBA names to be ranked around.
Bryant has shown some flashes of his old self in the preseason so, hopefully, that can translate to the regular season which is just around the corner and make ESPN think twice about why they ranked Bryant all the way down at #40.
