The Los Angeles Kings continued their winning streak last night as the beat the Washington Capitals 3-1. The Kings spirits have been high as they entered last night’s game on a three game winning streak. In their most recent win they were able to beat the Calgary Flames 5-3.

Last night the first period ended in a scoreless tie. It was the home team Kings who were able to get more shots on target as they outshot the Capitals 14-8.

In the second period Dwight King opened up the scoring. He scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Tyler Toffoli and Jeff Carter to give the Kings a 1-0 advantage. That would be the only goal in the period and the Kings entered the third and final period up 1-0.

Within the first 17 seconds of the third period Trevor Lewis scored a backhand shot to put the Kings up 2-0.  Birthday boy Marian Gaborik and Anze Kopitar assisted on the goal as it was all smiles at the Staples Center.

Less than two minutes later it was only a matter of time before Alex Oveckin scored a slap shot goal. His goal was assisted by Evgeny Kuznestsov and just like that the Capitals were back in the game.

With about 13 minutes left in the final period Jarret Soll put the icing on the cake as he tipped in a shot to give the Kings the two goal advantage. Dustin Brown and Justin Williams assisted on the goal and the Kings went on to win 3-1.

Last night’s win pushed the Kings winning streak to four in a row. They will play host to the Tampa Bay Lighting on Monday night. NHL get ready it looks as if you have woken up a sleeping giant!
