Kings Fall To Ducks In Overtime 3-2

The Los Angeles Kings battled the Anaheim Ducks but fell in overtime tonight 3-2. While the Kings did gain one vital point they walked out of the Pond unsatisfied. Last game out the Kings beat the Arizona Coyotes 1-0 and looked to add-on to the momentum.
Jeff Carter scored the opening goal of the game. He scored a wrist shot power play goal that was assisted by Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty. This gave the Kings an early 1-0 lead to end the first period.
In the second period both teams had numerous opportunities but neither team could find the net. The Kings entered the third period with a 1-0 lead.
In the final period Patrick Maroon scored a tip-in shot to tie the game. His goal was assisted by Ryan Getzlaf and James Wisniewski. A few minutes later Jakob Silfverberg scored a wrist shot goal of his own to give the Ducks the lead. His goal was assisted by Andrew Cogliano and Hampus Lindholm.
With less than 5 minutes left Justin Williams scored a wrist shot goal that tied the game. Jake Muzzin and Trevor Lewis were credited with the assists which saved the Kings and forced overtime.
In the first minute of overtime Ryan Kesler scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Cam Fowler. The Kings fall to just 1-7 in overtime games this season.
Jonathan Quick made 23 saves on the night, while John Gibson made 29 for the Ducks.
With the loss the Ducks take the season series 4-1 over the Kings. Up next the Kings will take on the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday afternoon at home.
