Kevin Love Opts Out Of Deal

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com Cleveland Cavilers forward Kevin Love has opted out of the final year of his contract.

By opting out of his deal Love can make up to 18.7 million dollars next season Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today reports.

Kevin Love was traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blockbuster deal that involved Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and others. This paired the All-Star with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

Love struggled in his new role with the Cavs but looked to turn the corner as the team entered the playoffs. He was involved in a controversial play with Kelly Olneck that separated his shoulder and forced him to miss the rest of the playoffs.

The Cavs went on to the NBA Finals before losing to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Ironically Love was involved in trade talks this time last year that would have sent him to Golden State and sent Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes to Minnesota.

Many people believe the Los Angeles Lakers will send out a max deal for Love. It is unknown if Love actually wants to leave the Cavs, but I guess we’ll find out come July 1.
