Kendrick Lifts Nats Over Angels 3-1

Howie Kendrick hit two home runs that lifted the Washington Nationals over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 3-1 on Tuesday night. The loss snapped the Halos six game winning streak.

For Anaheim Tyler Skaggs got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 runs. He walked 2 and struck out 6 as he picked up his 3rd loss of the year.

On the other side it was Gio Gonzalez who got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 2 hits and 0 runs. He walked 3 and struck out 4 as he picked up his 11th win of the year.

The offense got started in the 3rd inning for the Nats. Kendrick hit a solo shot to put them on the board 1-0. In the 5th inning Kendrick was at it again when hit a another homer to make it 2-0.

In the 6th inning Matt Wieters reached base off a fielding error from Albert Pujols that allowed Anthony Rendon to score.

Cliff Pennington hit a solo homer in the 8th inning to put the Angels on the board. Sean Doolittle came on in the 9th inning and picked up his 12th save of the year.

These two clubs will continue their series this afternoon. Ricky Nolasco and Tanner Roark are the projected starters.
