Ken Whisenhunt Returns As Chargers Offensive Coordinator

@chargers_fanly

According to Eric Williams of ESPN.com the San Diego Chargers have rehired Ken Whisenhunt as their offensive coordinator.

San Diego parted ways with Frank Reich earlier this offseason. San Diego’s offense ranked 26th in the league last season under Reich.

When Whisenhunt was the offensive coordinator in 2013 the Chargers offense ranked 5th in yards and 12th in points scored. The biggest difference was how effective the run game was with Whisenhunt at the helm.

Ryan Mathews rushed for over 1,000 yards under Whisenhunt and Charger Nation is hoping for similar success with Melvin Gordon. Gordon was selected in the first round last year after a storied career at Wisconsin.

He struggled in his first season in the NFL and it will be interesting to see how he progresses with the new offensive coordinator.
