According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com the San Diego Padres and Josh Johnson are finalizing a one year deal.

Johnson missed the 2014 season due to Tommy John surgery and it will be interesting to see how he recovers next season.

Johnson, who will turn 31 next month holds a career record of 58-45, and 3.40 ERA. He has spent most of his career with the Marlins before being traded to the Blue Jays in 2013.

Although Johnson is coming off an injury, his one year deal will serve as a low risk high reward situation for the Padres. If he comes back into form he can be a solid pitcher for the Padres. If not they can let him go at the end of the season with no coincidences.

The Padres are focused on winning by any many necessary and are not afraid to take risks and seen with their movement this offseason.
