Jered Weaver pitched a complete game shutout and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Houston Astros 2-0. The Angels looked to bounce back after Huston Street blew the save in last night’s game.

Weaver got the start for the Angels. He picked up his first win of the year and went 9 innings allowing 6 hits while striking out 6.

For the Astros Roberto Hernandez got the start. He pitched an excellent game but was unable to get the win. He went 7.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs while striking out 3.

All of the offense came in the 5th inning. C.J. Cron hit a sacrifice fly that brought in David Freese to give the Halos a 1-0 advantage. Carlos Perez followed with a RBI single that brought in Erick Aybar and the Angels held the 2-0 lead.

It was a much-needed rest for the Angels bullpen who has struggled as of late.

The Angels and Astros will square up again tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. PST
